Youth Visiting the Centre de Marie-de-l’Incarnation

Marie-de-l’Incarnation attracts and interests many young people.   Every year, the Centre de Marie-de-l’Incarnation opens its doors to several of them.   Since I have arrived at the Centre, I have been happy to discover that youth accompanied by animator-guides have come numerous to find out more about the Mother of the Church of Canada.

On March 7 and 15, two meetings were organized for 80 students  - confirmation candidates -  from different parishes of Bellechasse.   Sr.Gabrielle Noël, explained with great fervor, how Mother Marie lived the gifts of the Holy Spirit , and how also our Blessed Mother can be close to them even nowadays.

In April, many groups of youth visited our chapel and prayed near Mother Marie’s tomb.  She is there to welcome them and to listen to their aspirations in today’s world.  We speak either French or English,  according to their mother tongue. We were especially impressed by a group of 70 boys  from a high-school  in Toronto.

On April 30, Ms. Anne-Marie Samson, in-charge of  our elementary school pastoral,  brought all the students by small groups to pray close to Mother Marie‘s tomb,  and hear more about our Blessed Mother Marie.

On May 27,  nearly 150 youth 18 to 30 years old,  coming from all parts of Canada, celebrated a vigil night of prayer  in the chapel of the Ursulines of Québec.  These were  volunteers at the International 2008 Eucharistic Congress in Québec, boys and girls,  enthusiastically  searching for  spiritual values, spent the night in ardent prayer.  This meeting was preceded by Sister Gabriel Noel’s  presentation on Marie-de-l’Incarnation.  During the year of the International Eucharistic Congress of Québec,  several excerpts on  Holy Communion and the Devotion to the Blessed Sacrament  according to  our Blessed Mother Marie-de-l’Incarnation,  were displayed in our exterior chapel.

To sum up,  youth,  guided by adults, is learning in different ways to discover the treasures of Mother Marie’s heart and spirituality.  Her spirit continues to travel through the whole world, and in particular that of our youth today.  Monique Dumais, o.s.u.

Most of the High School graduates  participate in a day of recollection at the Centre-Marie-de-l’Incarnation.  A Basic Ecclesial Community is active in grouping many young people from Capitol Hill Church who wish to develop their faith.
Many of them share in the Youth Summit, (a youth movement).  Their flag bears the message of  Ps.119 105:  ‘’ Your word is a lamp for my steps, and a light on my way ‘’.

Every year, the graduates, boys and girls of the Hachinohe high school follow a retreat before leaving their school.  Here are some of their comments:

‘’This recollection was a grace to help me mature. I hope I’ll never forget this precious treasure received during my studies: to be always ready to help out.  I am most grateful to my parents who sent me to this Ursuline school. ‘’

‘’In the gospel of Luke, Jesus said: ‘’ Young man, I tell you, stand up.  ‘’ It was as if Jesus told me these very words, while I was listening to the Sister, I thought : ‘’ What a wonderful event this is !  Thank you! ‘’

‘’ I learned that St. Angela ( Merici ) was not born a saint.   She had to make efforts, be patient and overcome  her untamed nature.  This will help me organize my future life.  I am overwhelmed with gratitude. ‘’

‘’ I understood that I had to pray not only for my petty needs, but for those of the whole world. ‘’
‘’  Young man, stand up !  Do not be afraid.  ‘’ These words made a strong impression on me . ‘’

‘’ The recollection was for me a precious moment to think about ‘’prayer’’ and ‘’gratitude’’.  Not to pray for myself only, but, to open my heart and pray  for all women and men notwithstanding religions and races.  I learned to be more grateful to my school  friends.  They do encourage me continually.’’

‘’ Gratitude wells up from the depth of my heart. First of all,  I remembered  my parents who sent me to St. Ursula School, and who always encourage me and protect me. Then I thanked you, dear teachers, who strive so hard to help the students realize their dreams, and also my friends always at my side.  I can see that my way of understanding prayer has also changed.  From the first of April, I will be living alone, and maybe I will feel anxiety and sadness.  I am fully convinced that prayer will help me cope with difficulties to come. ‘’

‘’ From now on, I want to be on good terms with  people, and I realized that to be able to say ‘’ Thank you ‘’ is so very important.   I need to become more humble. ‘’
