Do you wish to know about our spirituality or what motivates us ? What a challenge it is to paint it out in words ! As Mary of the Incarnation translates it : ‘’ these favors are to be felt and also experimented, but never to be written about or spoken of ‘’.
Sure of God’s Love
Sure of God’s love Let us say simply that we live fortified by the assurance of God’s love, a love totally gratuitous that flows from above, and transforms us inwardly until Love overtakes our whole being, as Mary of the Incarnation stated beautifully.
Angela Merici, who spoke about the language of the heart, insists on inviting us to incarnate this Love which inspires us in all our relations and commitments.
Three words express what we wish to be: virgins, spouses and mothers.
Virginity is a call to answer whole-heartedly the gratuitous Love, always offered. Virginity is the goal that transforms us into an all-loving-person. Mary of the Incarnation explained it rather as an absolute poverty changing a soul into Love.
The link to this Love is interpreted in terms of a wedlock. It is a willing union of the Verb with all mankind. In any case, this Love can only exist in a relation, a reciprocal abandonment.
For all of us, existing as mothers is a priority for our hearts, and fertility means much in our lives. Nothing can console better an Ursuline than to be considered: ‘’ A genuine Mother ‘’ !
All along our extended history, we have experienced that Love, which despite our weaknesses, produces the audacity we need to continue adapting unceasingly to events and times.
In order to understand more about our energizing resources, nothing can surpass frequenting Saint Angela’s writings, and those more numerous of Mary of the Incarnation. Several publications are dedicated to her.
Many persons are nourished by our spiritual heritage. Indeed, we know full well that our heritage, belongs to the whole of humanity.
Jesus-Christ, by his tremendous Love has seduced the women we are. We are daughters of Angela, we belong to the lineage of Mary of the Incarnation. As their followers, we realize little by little that the fruit of our vows of poverty, obedience and chastity can be harvested only by a heart abandoned to the Love of God.
We cherish the word ‘’ Covenant ‘, which expresses what we want to become women of an an ongoing covenant renewal. Covenant with God who loves us ‘’one-by-one’’, and also ‘’collectively’’, united among ourselves, and to all our brothers and sisters of the world.
Consequently, it derives from our covenant with Christ, and up to each one of us, to build life-groups, where each one can commit herself in a daily renewal, trusting in one another, in an open, courageous and amiable dialogue. Freedom of heart empowers us to live in an atmosphere of truth. Our wish for each one of our communities is to be a resourceful haven of welcome, simplicity and joy.
Our community thrives on the Word of God, worshiped and shared. Experiencing monastic life has rendered us heirs of a contemplative tradition which beckons us on the path of adoration and docility to the Spirit. Holy Eucharist and Divine Office keep us embedded in the daily prayer of the Church. ‘’Driven by the strength of Love ‘’, just as for Angela Merici and Mary of the Incarnation, we ardently wish, until death, to testify that we are part of apostolic communities. Attentive to the signs of the times, and the calls from different voices, we always find a way to stay women of relationship, dedicated to education.
To be Ursulines, means to accept an ongoing formation, until one reaches full Love! Events also have an importance in this transformation. We also co-operate whole heartedly.
