Letter 130
From Quebec, to her son. 19th September 1650. She recommends Fr. Bonnin.
My dear Son,
It is by Rev Fr, Bonnin the faithful witness of our holy martyrs that I send you some of our Holy Relics. Receive them as gladly as I send them to you. The conversation of these good workers of the Gospel will be a consolation to you. They all promise to see you and I promise myself that you will receive them with loving welcome and Fr. Bonnin who has offered to take charge of this is one of the most fervent Missionaries you could meet. That’s why it’s so painful to let him go but as he is a fine outstanding preacher and is leaving to follow the attraction of God who called him for the conversion of the Hurons, he is being recalled to his former functions, while awaiting the re-organisation of his Mission. You will see at once that he is a man out of the ordinary, but I honour him more as a great servant of God, than for his other talents, I had to send you this little note by this channel, and to assure you that my love for you is such as our Good Jesus knows. I found a note in your letter from one of your Fathers praising you. I greet him in all humility without having the honour of knowing him, I recommend myself to his Holy Sacrifice, and with all my heart I offer him to Our Lord.
